In order to benefit the potential that is entirely untapped, DIC requires competent and highly skilful audit services from registered auditors.
While DMCC provides a flexible office structure and hassle-free business setup, it is mandatory for companies within this free zone to maintain their financial records with the help of approved auditors in Dubai Multi Commodities Centre. What the zone requires
Three rules that decide your renewal

- 01
Audited statements at renewal
Most free zone licences require audited financial statements before the authority will renew. The window and the format are set by the zone, so the date to work back from is your licence expiry.
- 02
Signed by an approved auditor
The zone will only accept a report from a firm on its own approved list. A report from a firm that is not listed is rejected at submission, whatever its quality.
- 03
Records kept for five years
Every UAE company must keep its accounting records for at least five years, which is separate from the audit itself and applies whether or not the licence requires one.
When to start
Count back from your licence expiry
The deadline is set by your renewal date, not by the calendar year, which is why two companies in the same zone can have completely different audit seasons.
90 days out
Engage the auditor
Scope and fixed fee agreed while there is still room to move.
60 days out
Records handed over
Books, statements and supporting documents. Backlog rebuilt first if there is any.
30 days out
Fieldwork and queries
Balances verified. Anything that does not reconcile is raised while it can still be corrected.
Renewal
Signed report submitted
Audited statements in the zone's format, in time for the licence.
Vigor’s working guidance for a straightforward set of accounts, counted back from your licence expiry. Onshore Auditors in UAE, Dubai Internet City sets the submission deadline and the accepted format, so the date to plan from is your own renewal date rather than a fixed month in the year.
How it runs
Four steps from engagement to a signed report
- 01
Engagement and scope
We confirm the zone, the licence type and the financial year, then issue a scope and a fixed fee in writing. Nothing starts before you have both.

- 02
Records and reconciliation
You send the books, bank statements and supporting documents. Where the books are behind, that backlog is quoted separately and rebuilt first.

- 03
Fieldwork and testing
Balances verified, controls tested, and anything that does not reconcile raised with you while there is still time to correct it rather than after signing.

- 04
Signed report for renewal
Audited financial statements in the format the zone accepts, signed by an auditor on its approved list, in time for the licence renewal window.

Answers
Questions about this zone
The six asked most often before an audit engagement starts.
01Is an external audit mandatory for companies in Dubai Internet City?
Most Dubai Internet City licence holders must submit audited financial statements as part of their annual licence renewal. This is a free zone requirement rather than a matter of choice, though the exact conditions can vary by licence type and activity. You should check your specific renewal notice or licence terms to confirm what is required for your entity.
02How much does an external audit cost in DIC?
Audit fees depend on the size of the company, the number of transactions, the complexity of the accounts and how ready your records are before fieldwork begins. Because of this, audit work is quoted with a proposal once we understand the scope rather than priced off a standard list. Get in touch with your trade licence and latest financial records for an accurate quote.
03When do I need to submit audited financial statements for renewal?
Audited financial statements are typically required before your Dubai Internet City trade licence is renewed each year, so the timing follows your licence expiry date rather than a fixed calendar deadline. It is worth starting the audit process well ahead of renewal, since gathering records and finalising statements takes time. Check your renewal notice for the exact submission window.
04What happens if I renew my DIC licence without a completed audit?
Free zone authorities can delay or refuse to process a licence renewal if the required audited financial statements are missing or incomplete. This can leave a company trading on an expired licence, which creates its own compliance problems. The safest approach is to plan the audit early enough that it is finished well before your renewal date falls due.
05Which documents does an auditor need from a DIC company?
Auditors typically need your trade licence, memorandum and articles of association, bank statements, general ledger and trial balance, sales and purchase invoices, payroll records, and any prior year audit report. Additional documents may be requested depending on your activity, such as contracts or asset registers. Vigor will confirm the exact list once we understand your company structure and transaction volume.
06What does an external audit in Dubai Internet City actually cover?
An external audit generally involves a review of your financial statements, an assessment of operational controls and processes, checks for compliance with UAE and free zone regulations, and verification that your accounting systems are properly integrated and accurate. The scope is tailored to your licence type and business activity. The result is an audited report suitable for submission to the free zone authority.
